Charlie Burchett age 85, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22nd. Born in Duck, W.V., and a U.S. Army veteran, he served his country with honor before dedicating over five decades of his life to skilled work as a factory brazing specialist at Borg Warner and Ohio Screw in Elyria. Known for his steady hands and tireless work ethic, he took great pride in his craft and the relationships he built with fellow workers over the years.
Outside of work, Charlie found joy in his Christian faith, his family, and music. A talented banjo player and contributor to many bluegrass gospel nights, and a few impromptu Alaskan after-dinner parties, he filled his home and community with the sounds of old-time tunes and heartfelt harmony. A devoted Christian and longtime deacon of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, he led by quiet example—faithful, humble, and always ready to lend a hand or a prayer to those in need.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Linda, and their three daughters, Carol & Earl Gregorich, Brenda & Rob Janik, and Pam & Chris Collier. He was a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, Brent, Sarah, McKinley, Avery, Paige and Alex; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Bennet, each of whom he adored. His life was one of hard work, devotion, and song—he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
