Edward H. Murphy, 92 of Elyria, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 11, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Edward C. and Catherine M. Murphy (nee Robinson).
After graduating from Elyria High School, Edward joined the Navy and was a Chief Personnel man. Upon returning to Elyria, he attended classes at Lorain County Community College, and went to work at The Chronicle Telegram in 1953 and was their Personnel Director for many, many years. In September of 1971, he married his sweetheart, Cheryl (nee Sadler).
Edward was actively involved in many organizations, including The Knights of Columbus, Elyria Council #774, Elyria Elks Lodge #465, the American Legion Post #12 and the Polish Club. He was an avid traveler, loved all Cleveland and Ohio sports teams, and also loved fishing in Canada with his two sons. He was honored as Ohio Elk of the year in 1993. Edward was instrumental in founding the Elyria Hall of Fame. He also coached Little League, and he was very proud of his Irish heritage.
Edward is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; children, Timothy (Pattie), Daniel, and Cheryl (Ron Tedder); and his grandchildren, Heather and Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine Murphy; son, Edward Murphy, Jr.; an infant daughter, Linda J. Murphy; and a sister, Mary C. Ternes of Elyria.

Friends and family will be received at Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria, Ohio 44035 on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. An Elks Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 pm during the visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, Ohio on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 7284 Lake Road in Elyria, OH at 12:00 pm, following the Mass.
