Jean Koch, age 79, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023 at University Hospital in Cleveland. She was born August 21, 1943, in Cleveland, to James and Mary (Buehner) Havelec.
Jean was a pillar and member of St. Jude Catholic Church for 57 years. She served as an officer and secretary of the Altar and Rosary Committee, a member of Bereavement and Hospitality Committee, Helping Hands and a member of the Choir. Jean was a PSR teacher, supporter of Elyria Catholic Boosters, and helped with Elyria Catholic Bingo for many years. She was involved in St. Jude picnics and festivals, and served on the Committee for Meals for the Salvation Army. Jean was an avid fisherman, and loved her trips to Las Vegas.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill Koch; children, Matt (Angela) Koch, Greg Koch, Jeanine (Mike) Wascovich, Kristin Penton, Julie (Taylor) Saven, Ben Koch, Katie (Dan) Humphrey and Marty (Katie)Koch; 19 grandchildren; sister, Rita (Ross) Keller; many nieces, nephews and close friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Barbara Havelec.
Family will receive friends Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 4:00 -7:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria.
Private burial to be observed by family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands or Blessing House in Elyria.
