Marilyn Ann Whitten (nee Miller), 81 of Elyria passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born on April 16, 1942 in Birmingham, Ohio. She was a graduate of Firelands High School and of Bowling Green State University where she obtained a Master's Degree in Education. Marilyn taught at Elyria Schools for 30 years. She gave 100% to everything she did. She enjoyed writing poems, reading, watching mystery/crime shows, and was a jack of all trades. Marilyn always had animals and loved them very much. When she was in her 40's she inherited a trailer park in Amherst and ran it with her sisters, Nancy and Vesta. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by them all.
Marilyn is survived by her grandchildren, Alex Whitten, Cameron Whitten, Madison Whitten, and Kaitlyn Robinson; great grandchildren, Ashlynn Whitten, Cayleigh Rudd, and Alayna Rudd; daughter-in-law, Debbie Whitten; niece, Carla Galindo (Ray), and great-nephew, Jesse Gardner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Maxine Miller; son, Bradley Whitten; sisters, Nancy Cole and Vesta Hayes; her long-time companion, Thurman Mollahan, and her niece, Jean Hayes.
The family will receive friends at the Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Birmingham Cemetery.
